Crystal Palace are plotting a January transfer move for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according to reports.

Slimani, who was linked with a move to Selhurst Park last summer, has scored seven goals in 10 league games for Sporting this season, enabling the club to establish themselves as leaders.

The Eagles, who are believed to have sent scouts to monitor the Algerian in action this term, have struggled to find goals in recent weeks.

The Evening Standard report that Alan Pardew is a keen admirer of Slimani and has placed the forward on his January transfer target list.

However, the report says Sporting value the 27-year-old at £14m, which may sway Palace to turn their attentions elsewhere.

The south London club have only scored 14 goals this season and three in their last league five outings and Pardew is said to be keen on bolstering his attacking options this winter.
