Charlton interim head-coach Karel Fraeye has admitted that Tony Watt is unlikely to feature in the Championship clash with Birmingham City on Saturday.

After scoring three goals in Charlton’s first three games of the season, the Scotland U21 star has endured a difficult period.

Watt has failed to find the net since his early burst and missed the victory against Sheffield Wednesday prior to the international break.

And Fraeye, who was appointed caretaker boss at the end of October following the sacking of Guy Luzon, has revealed that Watt will most likely miss Charlton’s trip to Birmingham.

“Tony Watt is still struggling. He hasn’t trained properly for the last two weeks but has been doing a lot of hard work with Erol,” Fraeye, 38, said.

“It will be difficult for him to be fit on Saturday.”

Watt is not the Addicks' only injury concern going into the weekend, with defender Chris Solly also battling to regain fitness after hobbling off against Wednesday.

Fraeye said: “Chris Solly received a kick against Sheffield and he has also done quite a lot of work with Erol. We will wait until Saturday before deciding whether he plays or not.

“All of our players that were on international duty returned fit. Johann came back on Wednesday and did a good recovery session today, so there shouldn’t be a problem there.

“Reza had a long, 25-hour flight back, so we will have to manage that, but he is fit. Henderson came back very early and we have a very motivated Stephen Henderson back after Ireland’s great result.”
