Resplendent in their all pink kit, Welling United entertained Kidderminster Harriers with the aim of ending their home drought, and that they did in outstanding style.

Again, suspensions meant Loui Fazakerley had to re-shuffle his pack. Joe Healy started his two match ban so Dominic Vose came in. Michael Chambers returned from injury and replaced Sam Berry to play centre back with Harry Osborne and Ben Jefford either side in a back three.

Despite having no promotion hopes or relegation fears, the visitors sensed Welling were nervous and came out strongly.

Luke Maxwell was only just off target with a shot before veteran Lee Hughes headed wide.

After 18 minutes, Kidderminster were forced to withdraw James Fry through injury and almost immediately Ross Lafayette fired wide for Welling.

Two minutes later, Welling went ahead. Kieron St. Aimie did the hard work by tricking his way into enough space to be able to chip a cross into the path of the onrushing Jake Gallagher and the Wings' skipper finished with a fine header inside the far post.

Dominic Vose shot wide at one end, then at the other Callum Gittings was also off target before Welling increased their lead.

He may have not known too much about it but St. Aimie's endeavour was rewarded when his block on Danny Lewis' hurried clearance flew back past the Harriers custodian and into the back of the net.

Brilliant work by Vose created a chance that Lafayette blasted against a defender before Gallagher followed up but fired wide.

Vose then smashed a free kick over before again creating havoc when cutting in along the bye-line

before crossing. It looked as though St. Aimie had to score, but at full stretch he could only turn it onto the underside of the bar and out.

After the break, Vose continued to cause problems and belted a shot into the side netting as he attempted to beat Lewis at the near post.

Reece Harris and Vose then combined with a short corner that allowed the former to move in before putting in a fierce cross shot that Lewis kept out with a full length dive.

Hughes then earned the first caution of the day for a nasty foul on Vose as the frustration threatened to get the better of the visitors.

Their foul count continued to mount and Jefford had an opportunity to take advantage of one but over-hit his free kick.

Both wing-backs, Barney Williams and Harris, continued to get forward but Welling could have been caught out when Hughes collected a miss-hit Jonathan Henly clearance but floated his 35 yard first time effort wide of the unguarded net.

Any nerves Welling supporters may have been feeling were ended on 71 minutes when more clever St. Aimie play gave Sam Corne a shooting chance and although Lewis did well to get a hand to it, it carried sufficient power to nestle in the back of the net.

Maxwell followed Hughes into the referees notebook for a foul on Harris before the visitors finally registered a shot on target when Kevin Nicholson had an effort saved by Henly.

As Welling saw time out they were able to rest Jake Gallagher and Ross Lafayette to keep them fresh for Tuesday night's home game with Wrexham knowing that should they win that one, they will climb out of the drop zone.
