Romford                                       1

Cray won their third straight game to give their hopes of avoiding relegation a boost with a battling victory against fellow strugglers Romford.  As a result Cray are eight points Romford who are 21st with the Wands in 23rd having two games in hand.

Cray took the lead in the 2nd minute after Cesc Fakinos was brought down in the penalty area by Romford keeper Aaron Omand.  Chris Piper coolly scored from the spot to give Cray the best possible start.

Cray were unlucky not to go into the break two goals up when Adrian Stone’s header came back off the crossbar.

Cray were rocked back on their heels when Romford equalised on 48 minutes when Tyrone Scarlett fired in a shot from crept past Luke Colquhoun in the Wands goal.

Within a minute Cray went back up the other end to retake the lead.  Orlando Smith out on the right from the by line laid the ball across to Helge Orome who tucked his shot under the body of Omand for an excellent goal.

Cray were then indebted to Colquhoun who made a tremendous stop from Louis Hazlewood’s close range header.

Cray’s next match is on Tuesday 31st March when they entertain Great Wakering Rovers with a 7.45 kick off.
