Having ended their losing run in midweek, Welling travelled to Lincoln and recorded their first win of 2015.

Jake Gallagher was able to return after a five week ban and Wings' manager brought him in, replacing Zach Fagan, however Jamal Fyfield was not available through injury and had was replaced by Chris Bush.

Ben Tomlinson thought he had put the hosts ahead in the opening minutes but his clever finish was chalked out for offside.

Dominic Vose then fired well over for Welling as the two sides vied for supremacy.

Finding space down the left, Tomlinson crossed but Marcus Marshall failed to connect at the far post. Then Delano Sam-Yorke was thwarted by a fine Jonathan Henly save as he followed a clip over the top.

Sam-Yorke's next action was less savoury when he bundled into Michael Chambers against Henly. The Imps striker escaped a card but was given a firm lecture.

After 20 minutes, Welling went ahead. There looked little danger when Vose collected a long pass on the left wing, but his skill and strength allowed him to cut in before unleashing an unstoppable low shot from the edge of the area.

Eleven minutes later, Welling doubled their lead when Barney Williams was brave in a challenge before sending a delicious through ball to namesake Jason. The Southend loanee showed his composure and slotted home.

Tomlinson cut in but curled over but Henly looked to have the effort covered. However, Henly was a mere onlooker in injury time when Welling stopped expecting a free kick and Hamza Bencherif fired narrowly wide from 20 yards.

Early in the second period it might have been three. Clever hold up play allowed Vose to put Reece Harris away down the left wing, and his low cross was met with a first time shot from Jason Williams that came back off the near post.

Nat Brown then met a corner with a towering header that flew over before Chambers made a crucial tackle as Conner Robinson tried to waltz his way through the Welling defence.

Marshall headed just wide for Lincoln then Jason Williams had a header saved for Welling.

As time ran down, Lincoln tried to up the tempo and missed a great chance with seven minutes remaining when Tominson had a free header but could only head downwards and into the arms of a grateful Henly.

Incredibly, the referee found five additional minutes to add on, which was sufficient for Sam-Yorke to get himself dismissed for a late over the top foul as Chambers attempted to clear.

Although other results did not go their way, two good away performances will give Welling a massive boost ahead of their visit to league leaders Barnet next weekend.
