Away game woes came to an end for Welling United as they trounced Altrincham at Moss Lane.

Aristide Bassele was given his first start and Joe Healy returned to the starting line up and the Wings started brightly.

Harry Beautyman's free kick picked out Jamal Fyfield but he was unable to direct his effort on target.

Another Beautyman free kick was blocked allowing the hosts to break and Damian Reeves raced away down the wing and crossed but Nicky Clee was unable to keep his header down.

Jonathan Henly was called upon to make a flying save from a long shot from Sean Williams and from the corner Scott Leather's downward header was cleared by Barney Williams.

After 12 minutes, the Wings went ahead when Joe Healy dinked in a great ball for Beautyman to guide back inside the far post.

Jake Gallagher then had a shot blocked out to the half way line and Chris Bush collected , advanced unchallenged, and fired a long distance effort wide.

Once again the counter-attack looked the most likely source of danger for the Wings and a Clee cross was headed over by Kyle Perry.

On the half hour mark, Welling went two up when Zach Fagan played in Gallagher who awaited Marsh's run before playing a delightful all through that the Wings on loan striker chipped home.

It was one way traffic for the last fifteen minutes and the Wings deserved their third in first half injury time when a low Gallager shot deceived Stuart Coburn in the Altrincham goal.

There was still time for the hosts to threaten when Shaun Densmore's free kick came back off the bar.

After the break, Welling looked to turn the screw on the hosts and continued to create openings.

Ben Jefford was fouled by Densmore, which resulted in a booking for the Altrincham captain. Beautyman fired his free kick on target but Coburn was well positioned for the save.

Bassele made room for himself but his shot was blocked. The on-loan AFC Bournemouth player then had a header saved from a Beautyman cross.

Substitute Sam Corne then sent Healy away and he in turn found Beautyman whose cross was deflected just out of the reach of Marsh for a corner.

Steven Gillespie netted but was well offside for the hosts before another effort was well saved by Henley.

Jon Nouble, another Welling substitute, then broke away but his effort was blocked as far as Fyfiled who fired well over.

Jake Moult got on the end of Altrincham's best move but his precision shot was gathered comfortably by Henly.

Nouble caught Marshall in possession, and the Altrincham defender responded by hauling back the striker as he looked to burst through. Marshall was shown a red card and Welling exacted full punishment as Bush fired home, with the aid of a deflection.

Clee curled an effort wide with Henley beaten, but Welling were never in danger of throwing it away.

Welling United: Henly, Williams, Jefford, Fagan (Corne 58), Bush, Fyfield, Beautyman, Gallagher, Bassele (Nouble 74), Marsh, Healy (Fazakerley 70). Unused substitutes: Turner. Hudson.
