Bob Peeters has laughed off suggestions former Charlton striker Darren Bent was at The Valley tonight ahead of a loan return to SE7.

There were several tweets claiming Bent was in the directors’ box for tonight’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

But the chances he or Sunderland striker Danny Graham, who was yesterday linked with a similar loan to the Championship high-flyers, could be on the way in appear very slight after Peeters scoffed at the idea when asked.

“Darren Bent? (laughs). He might like to see us play or something but that’s the first thing I hear.

“I hear a lot of rumours. There was another striker I think from Sunderland coming in Danny Graham. It was the first time I heard that as well.

“It is good that a lot of players are linked with us because at the beginning of the season nobody wanted to come to us and now everybody wants to join us, so that means that we are doing a good job.”

Peeters also warned top flight players out of favour at their own clubs hoping for an easy pay day at The Valley can forget it.

The manager added: “We are always looking for players on loan but again when I see certain wages then I think we are not going to get a striker in because there are people asking for ridiculous money.

“We have a policy now at Charlton that we are not going to pay ridiculous money for people just because they come from the Premier League or whatever.

“I think we need to be very humble and give credit to these players.

“OK, if they want to come and play for Charlton then it is within our limits because we don’t need to spend money that we might need in January because in January we will see how we stand at that moment and maybe we will do something.

“At this moment if everybody stays fit we have a good squad.”
