Cray took three points on their first visit to Great Wakering to help move the Wands off the bottom of the table.
Great Wakering started the well and almost took the lead when John Bradley hit the crossbar.
They came close to scoring when Tony Jacobs was played through but his shot was well saved by Darren Behcet.
Cray came into the game and scored in the 21st minute following their first corner of the game.
Cesc Fakinos’ ball into the box was met with a weak punch from goalkeeper Sam Baxter under pressure from Shaun Welford and Adrian Stone was the first to react to head the ball into the net for his third goal in three games.
Ian Daly was unlucky when his fine shot went wide as Cray got on top.
At the start of the second half Cray had a let off when Stuart Hepburn was left unmarked from David Collins’s corner and his header went straight at Behcet.
Welford set up Tom O’Connor who shot over the crossbar before Cray extended their lead on 77 minutes with an individual goal from Dan Stubbs.
He ran from just inside his own half towards goal and as the advanced he coolly took the ball round him and rolled the ball into the net.
