Cray Wanderers won their first game of the season against Barkingside at Hayes Lane.

Barkingside took the lead in the tenth minute when from a breakaway John Bricknell fired home a rebound following a save from Nick Taylor.

Cray levelled on 37 minutes when Cesc Fakinos’ free kick into the box was flicked on and Pat O’Connor turned to shoot home from close range.

The second half was an end to end affair and Cray took the lead on 61 minutes when Daly picked up a loose ball and ran on and struck a fine goal to the keeper’s left.

Barkingside were still very much in the game and with the match entering its final five minutes the game took a dramatic turn when after a decent passing move, Steve Carvell finished well from Chris Taylor’s pass to level the scores.

A minute later just when it seemed the game was heading for a draw slack defending allowed Daly an opportunity to score which he tucked away via a rebound off the keeper.

Calvin Poku hit the post for Barkingside following a goalmouth scramble but there was still time for Cray to score a fourth goal when Stubbs’ fine pass fell to O’Connor who finished with a perfect chip over the advancing Clark.
