Ebbsfleet United manager Steve Brown praised his side’s second half performance following Saturday’s 3-0 home victory over Farnborough.

A sixth minute goal from Anthony Cook had given the hosts the lead, but Brown revealed he was unhappy with some aspects to his side’s play in the latter stages of the opening half, with defender Anthony Acheampong forced into clearing a shot off the line.

But the Fleet dominated the second period and further goals from Dean Rance and Ben May sealed the win, delighting the Stonebridge Road boss in the process.

He said: “We’ve continued the run, as it’s now four straight wins in all competitions, and we’ve only conceded two in those four games.

“It’s the third clean sheet on the spin too, so all in all it’s a fantastic day.

“I thought we were very good in the first 20 minutes of the game and took the lead, but then had a poor spell in the latter stages of the first half, during which Farnborough were in control.

“We didn’t concede, though, which is what I like about us at the moment.

“When we have a period where we’re not quite at it, we’re still very difficult to break down.

“We had a chat at half-time and I thought the second half was as dominant as our first half was against Staines a couple of weeks ago.

“The response at half-time was excellent and I don’t think they even had a shot on target in the second half.”

Saturday’s result also means Fleet have already reached 50 points in early March and solidified their position in the play-off positions.

But with his side in fourth place still 13 points behind leaders Bromley, and with a run of away games approaching, Brown is not getting too ahead of himself.

The manager said: “I wasn’t sitting there at the start of the season saying we wanted this amount of points from this amount of games.

“But what I will say is that after nine games we had nine points and one win.

“When you work that out, we’re well above promotional targets if you discard the first nine, which unfortunately we can’t.

“We’ve always played catch up against Eastleigh and Bromley and we’ll continue to try and catch up by putting as many points on the board as we can.

“The fixture list has been cruel, as with all the postponements we’ve now got eight away games out of nine, which is tough.”

Brown added: “I have this philosophy that is very much one game at a time, which is a cliché I know, but we’ll switch to Bath on Tuesday and try and get the three points there.

“I want the players to send out a message we’re hitting the ground running at the right time of the year.

“The Staines performance and today’s both warranted victories, so we’re in good form at the moment.”

The Fleet now travel to Bath City on Tuesday evening, although it is unlikely that striker Michael Thalassitis will play having been given medical advice to rest a broken wrist.
