A CHARLTON fan was thrown out of The Valley and arrested following allegations of racial abuse against one of the club's players.
Police have confirmed they were called to the lower north stand at 4.30pm on Saturday (Feb 8) where the man had been ejected from the stadium during the Birmingham match.
The 44-year-old man, from Kent, was arrested in connection with the incident and bailed to return to a south-east London police station in March.
Charlton said in a statement: "The club is aware that, on Saturday afternoon, racist abuse was allegedly aimed at a Charlton player by a home supporter."
They added: "The club takes these allegations extremely seriously and adopts a zero tolerance policy against racist behaviour."
After the game, Addicks player Cédric Evina wrote in a tweet, since deleted: "Racist abuse especially from own fans isn't acceptable! #disgraceful."
