Welling United 1-1 Dartford
CONNOR McLaren's last minute goal line clearance ensured the spoils were shared in the return fixture between North Kent rivals Welling United and Dartford.
Although Welling's changes were movements within the squad, Dartford's team included debuts for Rory McAuley and ex-Wing Andy Pugh, both on loan from Cambridge United.
Ten consecutive defeats might have left the Darts short on confidence but no-one would have known as they burst into a tenth minute lead.
Jim Stevenson, opposing the Wings for the fourth time this season, was first to react as a shot was beaten out, and he made no mistake from ten yards out.
Their joy didn't last long however and they conceded a series of cheap free-kicks before a foul on Lee Clarke in the area presented the hosts with a chance to equalise.
Ross Lafayette stepped up and struck his spot-kick firmly enough to beat Alan Julian who went the right way.
As both teams' supporters expected excitement, they were sorely disappointed as the remainder of the first half produced little goalmouth action, with only a low Dave Martin free kick being blocked by Doug Bergqvist raising the blood levels.
An injury to Lafayette resulted in him departing with two minutes of the first period remaining to be replaced by Luis Cumbers.
Another change at the break was required when Baily Cargill was replaced by the returning Loui Fazakerley.
As had opened in the first half, Dartford started the stronger.
Martin's cross was flicked on by Elliott Bradbrook but Danny Harris' shot was blocked.
Martin then slung in a corner that evaded everyone except Harris but his low shot was claimed by Welling keeper Lee Butcher.
Conceding free-kicks continued to threaten Dartford and a needless foul on Kurtis Guthrie presented Welling with another opening.
Jamie Day delivered but Mat Mitchel-King made an excellent clearance to keep out Doug Bergqvist
Stevenson belted a first time effort just wide for Dartford then Welling came close.
Clarke slipped Cumbers through but Julian was out sharply to block.
After Martin joined Guthrie in the referee's notebook, Harry Beautyman found space and hit a shot destined for the top corner.
Julian, however, had other ideas and made a spectacular save.
Once again, a foul on Guthrie gave Welling an opportunity but Day's free-kick was fielded comfortably.
Following two late Dartford substitutions, the Darts almost snatched a winner in the last minute of injury time but McLaren blocked Mitchel-King's last minute effort off the line.
