GIRLS in Bexley played two short indoor matches on Sunday as part of the process to select the borough’s London Youth Games cricket team.
In the first match Bexley District (95-5) beat a Hayes CC & Sidcup CC combination team (60-2) by 35 runs.
The Combination team (70-3) got their revenge in the second match on Bexley District (68-4) by two runs in the last over.
These matches were followed by a training session and the announcement of the final squad.
Bexley have a good record in the London Youth Games, reaching the final in the last two years finishing winners in 2010 and runners-up in 2011.
This year’s squad is a fairly new group of players who must now try to qualify in early March at Harrow Leisure Centre with an appearance at Lord’s Cricket Ground up for grabs if they progress to the last eight.
