BEXLEY Girls’ reached the final and finished runners-up in the Kent under-11 cricket festival at St. Lawrence & Highland Court CC on Sunday.
After defeating Margate, Bells Yew Green and Colfeians earlier in the day, they eventually lost to the host club by 25 runs in the final.
Bexley’s team comprised players from the newly formed girls sections at Bexley CC and Sidcup CC, which has regenerated interest in girls’ cricket.
Coach John Daniels said: “Kent is one of the strongest counties in England for female cricket and to reach a county final is a real breakthrough for the girls of Bexley.”
