The world famous Lashings cricket team is set to return to Bexley this summer for another charity cricket match against the Leigh Academies Trust.

Pakistan international and Lashings regular Yasir Arafat handed over the signed contract agreeing the match for July 4 to organiser and Leigh Academy principal Kevin Brewer at Bexley Cricket Club this morning.

Bexley CC chairman Chris Woolley and two members of the Leigh Academies Trust team, Sam Compton and Jamie Green, were also in attendance to witness the signing of the contract.

Mr Brewer said: “Last summer’s event was such a great success for all involved we simply had to make it happen again this year.

“Chris and the rest of the Bexley CC members were really supportive throughout the whole build-up and the people of Bexley turned out in their droves to witness some real legends of the game performing, making it a real community event.

“This year will be even better and I urge people to come along.

“We have a superb marquee lunch prior to the game but people can just come to watch and relax too.” Mr Arafat added: “I am really looking forward to playing in Bexley this year.

“After speaking to Gordon Greenidge and some of the other guys who played in this fixture last year this is a game the players really enjoy because they know they come up against some seriously good opposition.

“We will have to be at our best and most serious to come out on top.”
