BEXLEY were knocked off the top of the Kent Cricket League Premier Division on Saturday after suffering a 133-run defeat at the hands of Bickley Park.
The main cause of their demise was the stunning form of Bickley bowler Nayan Dashi, who claimed eight visiting wickets as Bexley were dismissed for 103.
Bickley won the toss and opted to bat first, making steady early progress to reach 103-3 before Alex Darroch (36) was caught by Henry Pickering.
Michael Ridley (33) was soon following Darroch into the pavilion as Pickering bowled him out to leave Bickley on 108-4.
But any hopes the visiting bowlers might have had of a sudden batting collapse from the hosts soon evaporated as Chris Coulson (51no) formed useful partnerships with James Watson (36) and Daniel Magin (34).
Magin’s scalp was eventually claimed by George Wells (4-46), with Bickley Park posting 236-8 from the allotted 55 overs.
Coulson caught George Wells (14) and Jack Wells (26) as Bexley made a steady enough start with the bat to reach 58-3.
Dashi delivered the ball which saw George Wells depart, the first of his eight victims.
The other Bexley batsmen to fall prey to his impressive skills were Angus Dalgleish (33), Jack Potter (2), Murtaza Abbas (1), Mehdi Abbas (3), Jasdev Bassan (3), Maruf Chowdhury (0) and Pickering (0) as the visitors were dismissed for 103 in 40 overs.
Defending champions Hartley (183-7) took full advantage and regained pole position with a three-wicket away success at Beckenham (182).
Warren Lee put in a sterling display with both bat and ball as his Blackheath side (270-9) picked up a winning draw against Whitstable (241-9).
Lee’s tally of 79 ensured he finished as Blackheath’s top scoring batsman and he also claimed a trio of wickets with bowling figures of 3-63.
Poor weather ensured the game between Bromley and Sevenoaks Vine finished incomplete.
