Charlton are believed to be close to making a bid for striker Lisandro Lopez, the the top scorer in the Argentine league, according to reports from the player's agent, writes PAUL SYMES.
Fernando Hidalgo has stated that Charlton, who have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer in recent seasons, are keeping tabs on the Racing Club striker.
Hidaglo said: "Charlton are closely following his performances, as they want to sign him by the end of the year."
Hidalgo added: "Charlton have not made an official offer, but that should arrive soon."
Lopez, who has scored 11 goals in 17 games this season, is valued at about £3.5m and has previously been linked with possible moves to Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar Donetsk and Corinthians.
