Lee Bowyer insists his players will be able to handle the play-off pressure.
The Addicks were accused of under-performing in big games during Karl Robinson's reign.
But under Bowyer, they picked up crucial wins over Plymouth, Rotherham, Portsmouth, Shrewsbury and Blackburn to secure a top-six finish.
Ahead of Thursday’s semi-final first leg against Shrewsbury, the Valley caretaker boss said: “It’s a two-game shootout. They beat us 2-0 at our place, we beat them 2-0 at their place, so you could say it’s quite even.
“But when they played us at our place I think we were a different team then. Now, we’re a team that’s together, fighting together and looking to get promotion.

“We’re a different animal to when we played them at our place and I think they’ll know that after what we did to them at their place. It’s over two games and the best team over the two games will win.”
Charlton are the in-form team heading into the play-offs, while Shrewsbury have won just once in six games.
But Bowyer believes form will count for nothing when the two clubs meet on Thursday and Sunday.
He said: “There’s pressure now. You need people to stand up and be counted and handle that pressure.
“I know for sure that my players over the last 10 games have handled this pressure immensely well. To win six out of the 10 against most teams that were above us, that’s no easy feat.
“They've been outstanding and I know they can handle the pressure. I’m excited about the next two games.”
