Charlton’s proposed takeover will not happen until the end of the season.
Addicks owner Roland Duchatelet has been trying to sell the club for over a year - and had agreed a price with two parties.
But the terms of the deal have changed, according to reports, and the interested parties will have to pay more if Charlton win promotion to the Championship this season.
The Addicks are set to compete in next week’s League One play-off semi-finals for a chance of promotion at Wembley.
It is not the first time Duchatelelt, who is hugely unpopular with Charlton fans, has haggled over the sale of the club.
In January, News Shopper revealed the Belgian tycoon lowered his £50m asking price. And now, he could demand close to that figure if Charlton go up.
Sky Sports says one interested party is an Australian consortium involving Andrew Muir and at least one former Charlton player. The other party remains unknown.
Charlton director Richard Murray expected the takeover to be completed before the end of February. The constant delays frustrated ex-Addicks boss Karl Robinson, who left for Oxford United in March.
But his replacement, Lee Bowyer, has breathed new life into Charlton. They are potentially four games away from returning to the Championship.
