Lee Bowyer says Sullay Kaikai “hasn’t really set the world on fire” since joining Charlton.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the Crystal Palace loanee’s arrival in January after his two successful spells with Shrewsbury.

But he has struggled in an Addicks shirt, failing to score and registering just one assist in 13 games.

Bowyer, who is set to make changes against Rochdale on Saturday with Charlton’s play-off semi-final in mind, could hand Kaikai another chance to impress.

The Valley caretaker boss told News Shopper: “He’s started a few games - but he hasn't really set the world on fire, for me.

“But he might play somewhere different if he’s involved on the weekend. He will be involved at some stage of the game. I’ll just have a look and [hopefully] see something different in him.

“I know the team I’m going to play.”

Bowyer confirmed that Joe Aribo will come back into the side for the trip to Rochdale.

The young midfielder has been on the bench for the last two games after recovering from a shin injury.

Bowyer said: “A number of players will have an opportunity to come in and stake their claim [for a starting place].

“Joe Aribo hasn't played in the last two games but for the other six, he was outstanding.

“He hasn't been playing because he had to miss a game through injury when the lads played well, so I kept the same team, and they played well again.

“Joe’s done nothing wrong - he knows that. He’s been outstanding for me. He’ll come back into the side for Saturday.”
