Charlton’s nine-game unbeaten league run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Two pieces of individual brilliance from substitute Josh Morris was enough to win it for the hosts.
Charlton, who created good chances in the first-half, drop to sixth in League One.
Karl Robinson made just one change from the team that beat Rochdale 2-1 on Tuesday with Patrick Bauer replacing Ben Reeves. The switch saw Naby Sarr move to left-back with Jay Dasilva playing further forward.
Chris Solly, making his 250th Addicks appearance, captained the visitors. After a tight start to the game, the first-half belonged to the goalkeepers.
Charlton went so close to taking a 27th-minute lead when Matt Gilks superbly tipped Josh Magennis’ header on to the post.
And the veteran stopper was forced into action moments later to deny Ricky Holmes from close-range.
But the Addicks relied on more Ben Amos heroics to keep the close encounter scoreless. The Bolton loanee, who made two top saves to preserve a Charlton win in midweek, pushed a Tom Hopper header over the bar.
Ahmed Kashi, one of Charlton’s best performers in the opening 45 minutes, made a crucial block to stop Hakeeb Adelakun’s goal-bound effort just before half-time.
Scunthorpe came out firing in the second-half as Duane Holmes tested Amos from a narrow angle.
Charlton were then outdone by two pieces of individual brilliance.
Morris made an immediate impact when he was introduced at the break, and put Scunthorpe in front with a stunning free-kick from just outside the box on the hour mark.
And he was at it again three minutes later, this time curling home a 25-yard beauty.
Charlton kept most of the ball for the remainder of the afternoon but failed to create any significant chances.
