Charlton are in talks with trialist Leon Best about his future.

Former Newcastle and Blackburn striker Best, 31, has been training with the Addicks for the past month.

He has been without a club since leaving Ipswich in the summer.

And he did his chances of earning a short-term deal at the Valley no harm after scoring in a friendly against QPR last Friday.

Addicks boss Karl Robinson said: “We’re sitting down having conversations with him - we’ll keep that internal.

“We’re watching the QPR game back with him and we like what we see.”

Josh Magennis is Charlton’s only senior striker contracted to the club - and he needs competition, something Best would bring.

Rangers forward Joe Dodoo was signed on a loan deal, which runs until January, but he has failed to make an impact in SE7.
