Karl Robinson has told Charlton’s in-form winger Tariqe Fosu not to get too cocky.

Fosu was the Addicks’ match-winner for the second game in a row as his goal helped Robinson’s men to a 1-0 win over Doncaster.

It was the 21-year-old’s fifth goal in three games - and he has become one of Charlton’s most important players since arriving from Reading in the summer.

But Addicks boss Robinson wants Fosu to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

He told News Shopper: “He can be as good as he wants to be - but stop writing about him - keep him on his toes. He’s young.

“If he wants to get carried away with his goals and think he’s better than what he is then he will fall back to where he came before he arrived at this football club - on a free transfer to a club lower than where he was.

“He can go as far as he wants to go but it’s his decision. He needs to learn the tactical and physical element of the game. He needs to cope with the management of the game.

“He needs to cope with the psychological implications that the game brings on and off the field. You can’t give young players too much praise - I like the old school way with some of these young players - firm.

“And right now, there’s more to come - there’s so much more to come from him.

“I see little bits of him that excite me. He’s got tremendous balance but so has Ricky Holmes, Mark Marshall, Ben Reeves, Billy Clarke and Karlan Ahearne-Grant. So we’re very blessed in that area.”
