Chris Solly believes Charlton are going to thrash one of their League One rivals soon.

The Addicks are on a four-game winless run which has seen them drop out of the top six.

Karl Robinson’s side were outplayed by Wigan, however, they have created enough chances to beat Gillingham, Bury and Walsall.

In their most recent setback, the Addicks wasted opportunities to see off the Saddlers. Josh Magennis and Billy Clarke were denied by excellent saves from Walsall goalkeeper Mark Gillespie.

And skipper Solly hopes Charlton can convert their chances at Fleetwood on Saturday.

He said: “I was confident we’d get the win against Walsall. It was an unbelievable save to tip Josh’s header on to the post.

“There were one or two other moments when we should've taken our chances. But it would be worse if we weren't creating them. If we had come here now, drawn two [games in a row] and created two chances, we’d be more disappointed.

“We could’ve had five or six goals at Walsall and that’s been the case for the past three of four games.

“So one team is going to be on the end of a hiding and hopefully that will be on Saturday.”

In the years gone by, the Addicks have been accused of falling to pieces when things haven't gone their way - most notably in their relegation from the Championship in the 2015/16 campaign.

But Charlton have done well to clear out the deadwood and bring in players who are strong enough to cope with the demands of English football.

And Solly, 26, is adamant that the current winless run has not affected the morale in the dressing room.

He added: “We’ve got real good characters in the dressing room, with bubbly personalities so we’ll never be down in there even though results haven't gone our way in the past couple of weeks.

“I’m sure once we get a win, we’ll get three or four like we did before. And that will shoot us back up the table.

“It [the winless run] is not affecting us now. We’re confident we’re going to go to Fleetwood and get the three points.”
