Charlton star Jake Forster-Caskey is relishing his return to Rotherham.

Forster-Caskey, 23, endured an unsuccessful loan spell with the Millers last season, making just seven appearances.

His season-long loan was cut short after joining Charlton on a permanent deal in January.

Both clubs, who are favourites to win promotion from League One, meet on Saturday with Forster-Caskey keen to impress.

He said: “I’m excited to go up there - things didn't really work out for me for one reason or another. Let’s just say I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“I don’t feel like I have a point to prove. It just didn't work out and that’s football but you know, when things don't work out at one place, I’m here now and I’m happy, so maybe it’s for that reason.

“I feel like I’m playing as well as I have in the past so I’m looking forward to that game.”

Forster-Caskey opened his account for the season with two injury-time goals in the 4-1 win over Northampton on the weekend.

Rotherham have had an average start on their return to League One, losing two of their opening three league games.

One old face that Charlton will come up against is Richie Barker, who left the Valley to become Rotherham’s assistant manager in May.

Barker was Addicks boss Karl Robinson’s number two last season.

Forster-Caskey added: “Rotherham will be a really tough test. Richie Barker is up there so he’ll have a little bit of insight on us.

“I know their players. They’ve come down from the Championship and they've got some good players at this level so we’ll need to be on top form to take anything from that place.”
