Charlton striker Tony Watt is in talks with four Belgian clubs, including Lierse and Oud-Heverlee Leuven, about a move away from the Valley, News Shopper understands.

Watt, 23, is the Addicks’ only fit and available striker with Josh Magennis injured and Lee Novak suspended.

He started in Charlton’s Carabao Cup win over Exeter on Tuesday, but was subbed off after an hour.

Robinson has said he wants to bring in another striker before the transfer window shuts, and it could signal the end to Watt’s Charlton career.

News Shopper has been told that Belgian First Division B clubs Lierse and Oud-Heverlee Leuven have held talks with the Scotland international. And with just one year left on his Addicks deal, it is unclear, at this moment, whether it is a permanent or temporary move away.

Watt had the most prolific period of his career during a loan spell with Lierse in 2013, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances.

Charlton signed the former Celtic man from Standard Liege in 2015, and after a promising start to life in SE7, he has struggled for form and been shipped out on loan to Cardiff, Blackburn and Hearts.

Hearts cut Watt’s season-long loan short last season, and he returned to Charlton in January, where he failed to hold down a regular starting spot under Robinson.

Speaking about Watt’s future earlier this month, Robinson confirmed there had been interest in his striker.

He said: “There was talk about Tony Watt moving on, but he’s going to stay around the building for a little bit longer until we can get the other player in.

“There’s always interest in Tony Watt but it’s got to be right for everybody. Since I’ve walked in the building, he’s been excellent. He’s come in ridiculously good shape. He looks a million dollars and he’s worked hard in the summer.

“At the moment, we’ve fended off a lot of interest. I can’t say who, but there are two clubs in the Championship, a team in League One and there were four clubs abroad.

“It’s got to be right for Tony, and it’s got to be right for Charlton Athletic. Once it’s right for everybody then a decision will be made.  “But with Tony Watt’s attitude to work hard, I can’t ask for any more. He’s a different player since he’s come back.”
