Arsenal and Everton have sent scouts to watch Charlton whizkid Ezri Konsa at the Under-20 World Cup, News Shopper understands.

Konsa, 19, was a late call-up to the England squad and met up with his team-mates in South Korea two weeks ago.

The Charlton academy graduate is yet to play in the tournament, and has watched England progress to the quarter-finals from the bench.

England U20 manager Paul Simpson has been consistent with his centre-back pairing – opting for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori and Middlesbrough starlet Dael Fry.

Konsa enjoyed a breakthrough 2016/17 season with the Addicks, making 39 appearances from defence and midfield.

And with Premier League scouts deployed to South Korea to watch the England youngsters, Everton and Arsenal are keeping an eye on Konsa.

The young defender signed a new three-year deal in March, and is keen to play regular first-team football next season.

But the Toffees did do business with Charlton in January when boss Ronald Koeman signed Ademola Lookman for £11m.

Konsa’s room-mate Lookman scored twice for the young Lions in their 2-1 win over Costa Rica on Wednesday.

England take on Mexico next week hoping to reach the semi-finals of the tournament, with Konsa fit and ready to play his part.
