Charlton are plotting a deadline day move for Norwich City midfielder Louis Thompson.

The Addicks have kept tabs on Thompson, 21, throughout the summer and hope to secure his services on a season-long loan.

News Shopper has been told talks between the parties are still ongoing and that if Thompson is allowed to go out on loan, it will only be to Charlton.

The only doubt is whether Norwich manager Alex Neil can be persuaded to let the former Wales U21 player leave.

Russell Slade’s side are light of options in midfield and Thompson would bolster the manager’s resources in that area.

Thompson, who has impressed on multiple loan spells at Swindon, played for Norwich in the 6-1 Capital One Cup win over Coventry last week.
