Russell Slade does not believe there will be any more “major departures” at Charlton.

Following the club’s relegation to League One, a host of first-team regulars including Jordan Cousins, Nick Pope and Johann Berg Gudmundsson left SE7.

But when asked whether there will be more outgoings this summer, Slade said: “I don’t see any major departures at all now.

“We’ve done quite well in terms of what’s gone because we’ve got value and the money on those [who have left] and we move on from that.

“It’s no good thinking what was before – we have to move on and move forward and that’s what we are attempting to do.”

Portuguese defender Jorge Teixeira has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old adjusted to English football well last season and his agent told News Shopper that clubs have expressed an interest in his services.

“He’s got a hamstring problem but he’s running now, he’s just started running outside,” Slade said when asked whether Teixeira was nearing a return to action.

News Shopper:

“With Tex, we just need to get him right at the minute for him to be pushing for a slot in the team again.

“It’s been a problem at centre-back, you’ve also got Harry [Lennon] out.

“We’ve had to be patient which is another reason why Ezri [Konsa] has been given an opportunity.

“We’ve got to be patient with those two or three players who aren’t available.”

Summer signing Ricky Holmes was taken off during the EFL Cup defeat to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday evening with a sore leg.

But the injury is not serious and Slade believes Holmes should be available for the weekend.

“We think he’s okay,” Slade said.

“The group who played 90 minutes on Tuesday will have a lighter session and the other group will have a stronger session this morning.

“Ricky should be alright – he’s been checked over and I think it’s more a case of bruising rather than anything else.”

Patrick Bauer played 60 minutes for the development squad earlier in the week and Slade says the German cruised through the match.

News Shopper:

The defender has not featured for the Addicks since December and his return will be a massive boost to the squad, according to Slade.

“He played 60 minutes on Tuesday and I watched half of that before heading to Cheltenham. He was very solid and comfortable,” the former Cardiff boss added.

“He probably needed stretching more than that to be honest but I think he’s getting himself in contention for at least the 18. He’s very close to that now.”
