Charlton defender Roger Johnson apologised following an incident involving Addicks fans at Bury, Russell Slade has revealed.
Johnson, 33, was alleged to have engaged with supporters who were frustrated after witnessing Slade’s side fall to defeat in their season opener.
And when questioned about the incident at Gigg Lane, Slade revealed he had words with the centre-half.
Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town in the EFL Cup, Slade said: “I heard there was something between a fan and Roger, I’ve spoken to him and said you can’t react and focus on the game.
“He apologised and understood that.”
