Charlton could sign two players before Saturday’s League One fixture at Bury, boss Russell Slade has revealed.

An unnamed player was at Sparrows Lane this morning for a medical – News Shopper understands the deal should be announced today.

And Slade said Charlton were in the process of bringing another player to the club with a move possibly being finalised before the weekend.

“We’ve got one in the building for a medical today, so we’re delighted with that,” Slade said.

“We are two-thirds of the way down the road with another one. I would be hopeful that we could get him for the weekend but time is running out.

“They will be coming in the building. We’ve been very patient with the goalkeeper [Declan Rudd] and the player in today – there’s been no scattergun approach.”

Former Cardiff City boss Slade insisted he still wants at least four players to arrive in SE7 during the summer window.

However, the 55-year-old is adamant new arrivals are the right fit for the club.

He said: “Quite simply I need another four – that’s without doubt.

“And they have to be the right fit so if we have to use the whole of the window then we will.

“I’m not just going to bring players in for the sake of it. They have to be the right type of character and quality who will fit in.

“They’ve got to want to wear the shirt.”
