Charlton have signed goalkeeper Declan Rudd from Norwich City on a one-year loan deal.

The Addicks have been searching for a stopper following the departures of Stephen Henderson and Nick Pope.

And Russell Slade finally landed his man today with Rudd, 25, signing for the 2015/16 season.

Rudd told the official website: “It’s brilliant to have the move sorted and I am really happy to be down here and part of the squad.

“As soon as a got the call about the possibility about coming to Charlton it was a no brainer for me.

“This is huge club with great history and facilities, and we have a great manager and staff here and hopefully we can achieve our goal this season which is, of course, to bounce straight back up to the Championship.”

Slade was delighted with the deal for a player he called a 'top goalkeeper'.

The 55-year-old said: “We have been patient in waiting for our number one target and we are delighted that our patience has been rewarded.

“We feel like we have got a top goalkeeper in Declan and he was so enthusiastic and could not wait to get started today.

“That is what he is all about. He is a very efficient, all-round goalkeeper; his kicking his good, he manages his box well and he is a very good shot stopper.

“We are very pleased to have him.”
