Charlton could turn to Carlisle United’s Mark Gillespie to solve their goalkeeper crisis.

Carlisle outlet News & Star claim the Addicks are keeping tabs on Gillespie, 24, as their search for a senior stopper continues.

Russell Slade is desperate to sign a goalkeeper after Stephen Henderson and Nick Pope both left SE7 last month.

Henderson, who made 53 league appearances for Charlton, sealed a move to Nottingham Forest on a free transfer while 24-year-old Pope joined Premier League new boys Burnley.

Charlton have been strongly linked with Norwich’s Declan Rudd but a move is yet to materialise.

Carlisle’s Gillespie has played more than 100 games for the Blues since joining the club from Newcastle United’s youth system.

The player enjoyed a solid campaign last season and Carlisle will be reluctant to see their No 1 leave Brunton Park.
