Russell Slade confirmed triallists Andrew Crofts, Lewis Buxton and Kevin Foley would be joining Charlton’s week-long training camp in Austria.

Experienced duo Crofts and Buxton featured in both of the Addicks’ recent pre-season friendlies against Welling United and Bromley.

Foley, meanwhile, played his first game in Charlton colours on Tuesday night in the 2-1 defeat at Hayes Lane.

Summer signing Lee Novak missed the Bromley fixture through illness but Slade confirmed the ex-Birmingham man was still travelling to Austria with the squad.

However, there was another injury setback to come to light as Slade revealed El-Hadji Ba had pulled up in training and would not make the trip.

“Ba pulled out of training with a thigh injury yesterday – he will probably need a scan on that – so he won’t be travelling to Austria,” Slade said.

“Lee [Novak] has a little bit of a virus but he’s still coming with us to Austria.

“Nobody’s sleeping with him – he’s got a room on his own, that’s for sure – but he should be fine.”

Former Cardiff and Leyton Orient boss Slade was impressed by midfield duo Crofts and Foley at Bromley.

Foley, 31, was most recently on the books at Ipswich Town but played over 200 games for Wolves between 2007 and 2015.

“I thought they [Crofts and Foley] ran it in the second-half to be honest,” Slade added.

“They have good experience, good Championship experience. They get on the ball and have a maturity about them.

“They grabbed hold of the game a little bit for us in the second period.”

Charlton arrived in Austria this morning and play two pre-season friendlies against Israeli outfit Maccabi Petah Tikva and Russian side FC Anzhi Makhachkala before returning to England.

The Addicks then face Leyton Orient, Ipswich Town and RKC Waalwijk in the build-up to the new season.
