Colchester United have accepted bids from Barnsley and Peterborough for midfielder George Moncur.
The 22-year-old has been tracked by several clubs after Colchester suffered relegation from League One last season.
Barnsley, who bagged promotion to the Championship by beating Millwall at Wembley, are keen on a deal but face competition from the Posh.
Peterborough’s director of football, Barry Fry, has reportedly confirmed that the League One club have verbally agreed personal terms with Moncur.
Last month, relegated Charlton expressed an interest in the highly-rated midfielder and had at least one offer rejected.
The Addicks initially tabled a bid of £150,000 but Colchester valued the former West Ham player at around £500,000.
