Katrien Meire insists Charlton defender Chris Solly is not being pushed out of the club.

Solly, 25, has made over 180 league appearances for the Addicks since signing his first professional contract in 2009.

The academy graduate missed the last two Charlton games and rumours surfaced suggesting he had been dropped for “non-footballing reasons”.

But Meire says Solly was ruled out through injury and has dismissed claims that the club were looking to offload the defender to Gillingham on loan.

At the Fans Forum, held on Monday night, she said: “At no point did we try to push Chris Solly out to Gillingham.

“Quite the contrary, we have been speaking to Chris Solly regarding his future at the club, he had an injury on Saturday.

“It is not a true story.”

Meire also suggests reports linking Paul Elliot with a buy-out of the club are false.

The CEO added: “[The] Paul Elliot story also has no grounds and is easy to explain.

“It’s quite difficult to rebut all the rumours which are flying around all the time.”
