Jose Riga was unable to provide an update on Yaya Sanogo’s fitness after the Arsenal striker hobbled off during Charlton’s defeat at QPR on Saturday.

In his second start since completing a three-match suspension, Sanogo only lasted 34 minutes before suffering a muscular injury.

The French striker had to be substituted at Loftus Road and Riga was unsure whether he would be fit to face Derby next week.

The 58-year-old said: “I am not sure [if Sanogo will be able to feature against Derby].

“I don’t know why right now – it is too early to tell. But we have a full week so we will see. We hope so.”

After a bright start to life at the Valley, Sanogo was sent off for a dangerous elbow on MK Dons defender Antony Kay.

The suspension interrupted an impressive run in the side – the Arsenal man bagged a hat-trick against Reading at the end of February and was lively in the victory at Brentford.
