Jose Riga will make a late call on the fitness of Charlton duo Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Alou Diarra ahead of the Championship clash against QPR on Saturday.

Iceland international Gudmundsson was substituted after only 19 minutes during Charlton’s goalless draw with Ipswich in midweek with a head injury.

Meanwhile, midfielder Diarra struggled with a foot problem late in the game – the Frenchman admitted to having a “crack” in his foot the previous week.

Riga says the club will make daily assessments on both players before the trip to Loftus Road at the weekend.

He said: “It is difficult to say with Johann because we are just two days after the game.

“We will not take any risks with his head injury; we will make a daily assessment on him.

“We know the importance of Johann on the pitch. He is able to get a lot of assists and feed his strikers, though Marco Motta did very well when he came on.

“Alou is a similar thing. We have to check but fortunately it is not the same foot that he injured before.”

The Belgian boss also provided an update on Patrick Bauer, who is nearing a return from a lengthy lay-off.

“Patrick Bauer played 45 minutes for the U21s on Monday and he did well, which is good,” he said.

“Ahmed Kashi is also taking some part in training at this moment. Only Reza, Cristian Ceballos and Johann have been missing from our training sessions.”
