Alou Diarra insists his Charlton teammate Jordan Cousins has a big future in the game.

The Addicks academy graduate has been picking up plaudits recently for his excellent performances in the centre of midfield.

The 22-year-old, wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Johnnie Jackson, Chris Solly and Stephen Henderson, impressed again in the 2-1 win over Birmingham on Saturday.

The man playing next to him, Diarra, knows that Cousins is living up to the hype that surrounded him when he was coming through the ranks at Sparrows Lane.

The France international said: “It’s easy to play with Jordan because he is very brave.
