Callum Harriott praised his ‘French brother’ Yaya Sanogo after Charlton recorded their first victory since January against Brentford on Saturday.

Sanogo, 23, was a constant threat at Griffin Park and his presence in the Brentford box played a part in both of Harriott’s goals.

The Arsenal striker joined Charlton on deadline day in a loan deal until the end of the season and bagged a hat-trick last week against Reading.

Having trained with Sanogo for just over a month, Harriott believes the attacking duo are starting to form a partnership.

He said: “That’s my French brother. He’s a cool guy, I really like him.

“We train well together and we’re building a nice partnership.

“The same can be said with Simon [Makienok], they’re both really good strikers who are very comfortable up top.”

Sanogo signed for Arsenal in 2013 at the age of 20 but has struggled to establish himself at the Premier League giants.

He is yet to score a league goal for the club in 11 appearances and has been sent out on several loan spells due to the fierce competition in north London.

The talisman failed to impress during frustrating stints at Crystal Palace and Ajax, but Harriott believes regular game-time with Charlton can instigate a return to form.

The academy graduate, who turned 22 on Friday, said: “Yaya has quality.

“He just needed a run of games and it’s coming.

“He got a hat-trick [against Reading] even though we lost. He’s a great player and a good guy to have in the dressing room.”
