Guy Luzon says he understands the frustration and disappointment of Charlton fans, but has promised to turn things around.

After making a bright start to the season, the Addicks have dropped away from an early play-off position and currently occupy a spot in the relegation zone.

Fans turned on the team on Tuesday evening as relegation-strugglers Preston North End cruised to a 3-0 victory at the Valley, and Luzon insists he understands the anger amongst supporters.

“I agree with them, we are also disappointed – we are not happy or satisfied,” he said.

“You can understand it because fans, like me, work with a lot of emotion.

“And when you love the club and you love the team, it’s normal for you to be worried.

“I’m sure that they will be with us in the game [on Saturday] – they want the club to succeed, they don’t want to go against the players or the coach but they are disappointed.

“99 per cent of the time they support the team and push the team forward – and we shouldn’t take this for granted because at a lot of clubs the fans turn on them and go against the team.

“That is not the situation here.

“We don’t have any problem with the fans, we only appreciate them for coming to see us home and away.

“We know that we’ve made them feel very disappointed in the last games and I understand that because I feel the same.”

Luzon, 40, has not been able to field a first-choice eleven in recent weeks due to several untimely injuries to key players.

However, after revealing that five vital players are now fit to start against Brentford, the Israeli boss is adamant results will improve and has promised fans that the club will recover from this wretched run.

He added: “I’m really confident in the quality of the squad and we are totally not a team that needs to be part of the relegation war.

Stephen Henderson is fit to start on Saturday

“We are more than this and have a lot of quality.

“We have more quality now and that will bring results. I knew when we started the season that we had a good squad, and we’ve missed half the squad for a long time.

“I’m fully confident that when we pass the injury crisis we’ll come back to winning results – we have our weapons back.

“I can promise them that we will turn it.”
