Morgan Fox insists Charlton must be more ruthless after letting another lead slip at Cardiff.

The Addicks full-back wants the new merciless approach to start in the big TV game against Fulham this Sunday.

The 2-1 defeat in Wales was the third time the Addicks have dropped points after going a goal up this season.

“It’s frustrating because we know we are good enough to be winning these games,” Fox said.

“I think we showed in patches that we can play teams off the park – Cardiff couldn't deal with us at times.

“There’s no point saying the goalie made the saves because we’re the ones who should be putting the ball in the back of the net.

“We just need that ruthlessness to kill off teams.”

Karlan Ahearne-Grant put Guy Luzon’s men in front but Cardiff equalised quickly and then struck a 76th minute winner which condemned Charlton to a fourth straight defeat.

At 1-1, the Addicks had a glorious chance to retake the lead but were thwarted by an excellent double save from Simon Moore as he denied Tony Watt and Jordan Cousins.

Even in the first-half, the south Londoners did everything but score after Watt’s bullet-header was brilliantly saved and Patrick Bauer’s effort cleared off the line.

But Fox, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, refused to let any relegation fears creep in despite being just two points above the drop zone.

The Welsh star, 22, said: “Our squad is good enough to stay in this league and even that is silly to say as we should be pushing for more than that.

“We know we’ve got the players and talent so we just need to work hard, put in that extra ten per cent and the results will come.

“The TV game against Fulham won’t add or take any pressure away from us as we’ll do what we do every week – play to win.”

Charlton will certainly have their hands full when they take on free-scoring Fulham.

The Cottagers have netted 11 times in their last four league games compared to Charlton’s three in the same number of outings.

With Watt misfiring and the return dates of Igor Vetokele and Simon Makienok up in the air, Luzon could turn to Ahearne-Grant to the lead the line this Sunday.

Fox was full of praise for the 18-year-old after he scored his first senior league goal.

He added: “I was very happy for him, he’s a promising young player who works very hard for us up top.

“He deserved his goal.”
