Charlton boss Guy Luzon bemoaned the way his team were bullied in aerial battles after one led to the Cardiff winner.

Sean Morrison’s 76th minute header ensured Cardiff came from behind to win 2-1 and condemn the Addicks to their fifth defeat in six games.

It almost seemed inevitable that a headed goal would decide the fixture after the Bluebirds skipper had missed two guilt-edged opportunities in the opening 25 minutes.

Luzon said: “The problem started in the first-half when every duel and set piece was won by one of their players.

“These were warnings and in the end, we were punished.

“You know, we always man-mark at set-pieces and when we have an ariel battle - you need to win.

“This was a reason for losing the game."

Half-time substitute Karlan Ahearne-Grant netted his first senior league goal shortly after half-time.

However, the Welsh club immediately replied due to hesitation between Nick Pope and Patrick Bauer which allowed Joe Mason to sneak in and prod the ball home.

Conceding within four minutes after taking the lead left Luzon frustrated.

He said: “It will always be a difficult day when you play away and you’re winning but let the score slip.

“You need to hold the result, keep the clean sheet and show more commitment and concentration - it’s the only way to succeed.”

At 1-1, Cardiff keeper Simon Moore pulled off an unbelievable double save to deny both Tony Watt and Jordan Cousins.

The Israeli added: “We let them equalise straight after scoring and that was frustrating.

“But we had chances to score so I’m very disappointed.

“Keeping clean sheets has to now be our main aim.”

With other teams below Luzon’s men winning, Charlton now sit just two points away from the relegation zone.

The Addicks face Fulham on the box next Sunday and will be hoping to put their Sky TV hoodoo behind them.

August 13 in 2010 was the last time Charlton gave fans something to cheer about after making easy work of Leyton Orient in a 3-1 away win.

However, Luzon remained unfazed by any bad records looming over the club.

He said: “We don’t need to think about Sky television, we need to think about getting the result - that’s it.

“The game is in eight days so we will have time to prepare and give our all for the home fans.”

Luzon also confirmed that he hopes some of his injured stars come back before the London derby with the likes of Simon Makienok, Johnnie Jackson, Cristian Ceballos still missing.
