Head coach Guy Luzon has hinted some first team players may be given a rest in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie at rivals Crystal Palace.

The Israeli made three changes in Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Blackburn, with youngster Mikhail Kennedy making his league debut in place of the injured Simon Makienok.

And the Addicks boss revealed afterwards the number of current injury problems within his squad will be a big factor in his team selection against the Eagles.

“Of course there are players who are struggling with injuries and may not play,” said Luzon.

“Some other players who play consistently in all of the games may get the chances to rest.

“We will manage our squad ahead of the cup game.”

The Valley gaffer also believes that the tie against Alan Pardew’s side is a perfect opportunity to recover from the recent run of poor results in the league.

He said: “Every game is a chance and opportunity to show what we are made of and to bounce back.

“Crystal Palace are favourites heading into the game because they are Premier League and have been getting some great results.

“We need to raise the heads and continue to fight and believe – it’s the only way to go into that game.

“But we will do our best to beat them and get into the next round.”
