Charlton Athletic drafted in midfielder El-Hadji Ba from Sunderland last night.

The 22-year-old completed a medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal in SE7.

He was signed by Paolo Di Canio in 2013 but only made one substitute Premier League appearance for the Black Cats.

Ba said: “It's very nice to be a Charlton player.

“I’m very happy to be here. It was a little bit difficult at Sunderland.

“I was young and didn't have a lot of time on the pitch, but now I am older and ready to fight at Charlton.”

And Ba isn’t the only signing expected at The Valley, with Danish striker Simon Makienok set to arrive on loan from Italian side Palermo.

Charlton remain keen on completing a permanent swoop for Frederic Bulot, despite owner Roland Duchatelet last week selling up at Standard Liege.

Bulot impressed under Guy Luzon while on loan with the Addicks last season and remains a summer target for the Israeli head coach.

The change of ownership at Bulot’s parent club Standard Liege will have no impact on whether that deal gets done.
