A viral video showing two people 'having sex' on the pitch at Charlton Athletic's ground has been banned.

The video created to promote pitch hire at The Valley showed two actors pretending to have sex on the pitch.

A complaint was made to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), stating the advert was sexist, derogatory towards women and unsuitable to be viewed by children.

The ASA rejected that the video was offensive towards women and the woman featured was likely to be embarrassed rather than degraded.

However, they deemed the sexual content in the video to be unsuitable for young fans and have banned the video from YouTube and other untargeted media.

A statement from the ASA reads: "We noted the majority of videos appearing on the channel comprised match footage and interviews with players and fans (including children), and considered the channel was likely to attract children who were fans of the club.

"Because the ad appeared in a place where children might see it we concluded the ad had been irresponsibly targeted."

The video starred Brockley actress Hannah Glover, 26, with her real-life partner Colin James.

In the video, the pair are caught on CCTV appearing to have sex on the centre circle of the pitch, before the floodlights come on.

The voiceover then says: "Fancy scoring at the Valley in May? Contact the sales team now to book the pitch for your team?"

The video was originally broadcast on Showboat Vines and was viewed more than 1,000,000 times.

A spokesman for Charlton Athletic said the club had already taken the decision to remove the video from their YouTube channel some weeks ago.
