Guy Luzon has confirmed the Addicks are set to offer midfielder Johann Gudmundsson a new contract to try and keep him at The Valley.

The 24-year-old joined Charlton last summer on a two-year deal from AZ Alkmaar and has scored 11 goals in an impressive debut season in SE7.

That form was caught the eye of several top flight clubs including Stoke City and Hull City, although head coach Luzon wants to fend off that interest by persuading the Icelandic winger to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The Israeli said after last night’s 1-1 draw at Bolton: “I’ll say now that we want to keep him and we want to offer him a new contract and to keep him at our club.”
