Charlton say they are “disappointed” by Millwall’s decision to cut their ticket allocation for next month’s derby game at The Den.

The Addicks had initially expected to receive 3,003 tickets in both tiers of the away end but instead will now only get the upper tier which seats 2,017.

Last year’s fixture passed off relatively peacefully although the December 2012 Den encounter was marred by trouble in the Charlton section, including seats being torn out and clashes with police.

Millwall say the decision not to allow both parts of the away stand to be used again was taken earlier this week on security grounds, although their south-east London neighbours aren’t happy about it.

A story on the Addicks’ website began by saying: “Charlton are disappointed to announce that the away allocation for next month’s game at Millwall has been reduced.”

It went on to add: “The club understands that supporters will be disappointed by this announcement, but have no control over the situation and have made Millwall aware of its frustrations.”
