Charlton head coach Guy Luzon will decide in the coming days whether to offer former French international midfielder Alou Diarra a Valley contract.
The Addicks have already drafted in Chris Eagles today until the end of the season and the ex-Manchester United and Burnley attacker could make his debut in tomorrow evening’s vital relegation clash at Wigan.
But the SE7 chief is keeping an opening mind on one-time Liverpool and West Ham player Diarra, although he acknowledged skipper Johnnie Jackson’s unavailability through injury made finding a similar player a big priority.
Luzon said: “Jackson will be out of the squad for one month.
“Of course we will need to sign another central midfielder because we’ve lost Jackson now.
“Alou Diarra is training with us.
“It is a possibility he might sign.
“He is a good player.
“We will take the decision in two or three days.”
Rhoys Wiggins will also miss the trip north to Wigan and is likely to be out for up to a fortnight.
Roger Johnson, who played through the pain barrier with a cracked rib on his debut last week against Brentford, should be fit to face the Latics.
