Charlton Athletic fans are set to hold a public meeting tomorrow night in an effort to form a united front and get some answers from the club.

The Supporters’ Trust will meet at the Woolwich Grand Theatre at 7.30pm and invite all fans to share their concerns about the direction of the club.

Charlton have slipped down the table after going 13 league games without a win before Saturday’s 3-0 success over Brentford, and the appointment of Guy Luzon last month made it their fourth manager in less than a year.

“It’s an open meeting,” explained Steve Clarke, a board member of the CAS Trust.

“We want as broad a spectrum of Charlton fans as we can get to express their views, as I know there are a lot of varying views.

“It’s about highlighting the concerns about the direction of the club and where it’s going.

“For us it’s a lack of communication.

“We understand there’s a business plan and our view is the plan isn’t working and therefore we’re asking for a dialogue to understand it and question it.”

The Trust has seen several attempts to meet the club’s chief executive Katrien Meire rebuffed after she told a newspaper the fans “need to accept” that “the owner does it his way”.

Criticism and confusion among fans has risen in recent months, with many voicing concern about the way Belgian billionaire Roland Duchatelet is running the club.

His appointment of Luzon came just three months after he sacked the same manager while Luzon was at Standard Liege, another of Duchatelet’s clubs.

In less than a year, the Belgian owner has fired Chris Powell, let Jose Riga leave and given Bob Peeters his marching orders.

“The feeling about the new managerial appointment is that there wasn’t much of a process around looking at other options,” said Mr Clarke.

“We don’t know him and he doesn’t come with an enormous amount of experience.

“The biggest concern regarding the players we’ve brought in is that there’s very little experience of the Championship.

“We believe that to have success in the Championship you’ve got to have a good understanding of how to play the players in the right way.

“He’s someone who hasn’t got that. He might be a very good manager for all we know, but he’s not got a track record to demonstrate that.”
